Where are we going with the Photo Comics?
Share
The Photo Comics are meant to entertain and serve as an exhibit’s catalog. We have been scheduled to release a book every other month. Issue five, Afraid of Me?, has just been sent to the printer while issue six is in lettering and layout. Thanks to the dedicated and hardworking team who have been with us on this journey for the last two-plus years, all the photography and most of the graphic design have been completed.
95% of the photography was done on 35 mm film. This was a more complex, lengthy, and expensive process than we would like to admit. Double exposures work much better on film than using a digital camera and then converting to monochrome. We like both B&W looks, in film and digital. However, the near-infrared film and deep red filters create an ethereal-looking skin that lends itself to unique portraits and dreamy images that we believe the modern digital camera cannot yet replicate.
As we conclude our journey with six issues of gorgeous black-and-white photography, we wrap it up with an exhibit. More on that soon. In the meantime, we are selecting the best and our favorite images to include in the exhibit slated for this December. The exhibit will be a unique opportunity to see our work up close and personal, with each image accompanied by its narrative based on its place in the comic books. We are also planning interactive sessions and workshops to give attendees a deeper understanding of our process and techniques.
